The Cure for Bi-Polar (Empowerplus)

November of 1995 Tony Stephan was concerned about his 15 year old, who was manic depressive. His wife had committed suicide almost two years earlier, after suffering through years of a bi-polar disorder. He confided to a member of his church, David Hardy, that his family feared for their lives because of his son's violent behaviour. His other daugher was also on anti-psychotic drugs and when she was not hospitalized, she had to have 24 hour supervision. David Hardy was a retired high school biology teacher and was running a livestock feed supplement business in Southern Alberta. The symptoms of bi-polar sounded like the ear-and-tail-biting syndrome that effects pigs. What was used on pigs was a concoction of 24 vitamins and minerals added to their feed. So the two men decided to put together a human version of the mixture and bought the supplements at some health food stores. In January 1996 Stephan forced his son to take the mixture. Within days he was better, within a month he was normal. He also knows that he would be dead right now if he hadn't used it.
By 2002 Truehope was manufacturing the product in the U.S. and it was being shipped to Canada. At the beginning of 2003 Health Canada seized all shipments at the border and in March 2003 outlawed the importation of Empowerplus and Truehope was "shut down" for not having a DIN (Drug Identification Number). Emplowerplus is a natural health product, basically not a patented pharmaceutical drug. At the time over 90% of natural health products did not meet this standard and it was changed effective Jan. 1, 2004 and natural health products no longer fall under this category. Truehope did not comply and they continued to offer support and what was left of the supplement, which finally ran out. Health Canada did not listen to over 1,000 complaints they received while the sale of Empowerplus was suspended, they were too busy following the letter of the law (visions of Chalk River).
Head of Canadian Mental Health in Alberta, Ron LaJeunesse testified that he warned Health Canada that people were becoming suicidal, he had documentation that two committed suicide when they relapsed into severe depression and could no longer get the supplement. During testimony Dr Charles W. Popper, professor of psychiatry at Harvard University and a private practitioner said "they made claims about this treatment that struck me as pretty obviously ridiculous. Claims like 80% of all mentally ill people who try Empowerplus improve significantly." David Hardy forced a bottle on Dr. Popper as he was leaving early from the meeting. He hid it in his pocket and later hid it behind some books until a colleague's 10 year old son was having four hour tantrums every day. Dr. Popper gave his colleague the bottle with no expectations. After four days the father called Dr. Popper and said "the tantrums are gone, not better, not a lot better, gone. And that the kid wasn't even irritable" testified Dr. Popper. As of March 2006, he had 150 patients on Empowerplus, and they are so stable that for the first time in 20 years he has been able to see new patients. He also have between 300 to 500 of colleagues patients on the supplement and they are doing well. Health Canada also conducted their own testing on Empowerplus and concluded it was a "type 2" product, meaning that the "possibility of harm" was "remote".
On July 28, 2006 Judge Gerald Meagher, Alberta Provincial Court, Calgary, Alberta found Truehope and it's founders Tony Stephen and David Hardy not guilty because the company was entitled to the "defence of necessity." Judge Meagher also said "the harm avoided by continuing to sell the product was unquestionably greater than the harm inflicted on the regulatory process." "everyone who undertakes to do an act is under a legal duty to do it, if an omission to do the act may be dangerous to life" "The defendants could have been at risk of criminal prosecution if they stopped providing the supplement and providing the support program" "Claiming that they had to comply with a DIN regulation would not have provided them with any defence" against charges of negligence causing death if they had done what Health Canada told them. He found Health Canada "vexatious" and said "if the supplement became unavailable, symptoms associated with depression and bi-polar disorder, which would include aggressive behaviour, assaults, hospitalizations and suicides, would return."
What disturbs me the most, is that eventhough this happened during a period of liberal government, the Health Canada site has not been updated. A 19 page letter dated Aug. 8, 2006 was sent to Health Minister Tony Clement from Shawn Buckley (defense lawyer of Stephan and Hardy) asking for a public inquiry into the actions of Health Canada. He also included evidence of "abuse of process" and ignoring harm to Canadians. I guess just the fact that Truehope is still able to sell Empowerplus should be good enough. Dr. Bonnie Kaplan (who at the time was a psychologist from the University of Calgary, undergoing clinical trials on Empowerplus) said "The normalization of the mentally ill via nutrient supplementation has the potential to be the most significant breakthrough in the field of mental health since the beginning of time."
About a year later (and to this day), Health Canada is brushing off Empowerplus like it is "snake oil". So I sent an email to Health Canada asking them why out of the 20,000 people currently using this product (I was just guessing, LOL), how come there were only 9 people who had adverse effects. I asked them why they did not tell the 9 people who had adverse reactions, to get off the anti-depressants and stay on the empowerplus? Health Canada sent me back an email asking me how I knew that there were 20,000 people currently on this protocol. They also stated that Truehope's staff was not medically accredited and they were pretty sure that there were more people out there (besides the 9) who did not complain. Are they kidding me, I have never heard of anyone not complaining. Even with our new Conservative Government, I feel that the corruption at Health Canada is still residual (who are they protecting because it sure isn't the people). Whose pockets are being lined by the pharamaceutical companies at Health Canada?
Now that Bill C-51 has passed first reading in the Canadian House of Commons, that means that 75% of our natural health products will become illegal. Bill C-51 reads like a police state manual (almost like the FDA). It says that the State can seize the property of persons in the natural health product industry, including natural health practitioners, makers of natural health products, and retailers. Under the new law the State can seize without a reason, without a warrant, without limits to what can be seized, without time limitation, and without reporting the seizure to a Court. Owners will have to pay for the costs of the seizure, transport and storage of seized things, even if it turns out that there is not a safety risk. The state will still need to get a search warrant for someone's home, but if it's not a home, they do not need a warrant and can trespass on private property without liability. Small businesses are subject to the same maximum $5 million fines as large corporations. Directors, officers and agents of a company can now be personally charged for the misdeeds of the company.
Please send an email to your MP and tell them you are opposed to the police state powers, you want them to vote against Bill C-51 and you want your access to health products protected. Do something now before our access to natural health products becomes illegal.

Colon Cleanse

Yes, the doctor will tell you that one bowel movement every three or four days is fine. It's not. Did you know that aboriginals used to have a 3 ft. long shit? That information was from National Geographic. If you eat three meals a day, you should be having 3 bowel movements per day. It should be softly formed and in the shape of a C. If you are not having this right now, I would suggest that you do a colon cleanse. All your organs and glands are tied into your colon, different parts of your colon affect your liver, heart, stomach, pancreas, adrenals, kidneys, etc. After a colon cleanse, a lot of people say other ailments disappear. Through EBA, my herbalist is able to tell how compacted your colon is. The optimal level is 10% compacted, which means 10% of your colon should be full. But unfortunately I find (especially on new people) that their colon is compacted as high as 70 - 80 %. A colon cleanse is not that bad, you'd be amazed at what comes out. But the alternative is to leave it in there, to rot and become cancerous. My herbalist has come up with two different concoctions based on your body type. All I can suggest is to find a product as close to this as possible. This is all natural, and there are no long term side effects. After the initial cleansing, you may have to take them on occasion as maintenance. They reverse diverticuli (pockets produced from "holding it in"). The ingredients are as follows: Herbal Cocktail - Hibiscus, Psyllium, Licorice, Cascarda Sagrada, Peppermint, Siberian Ginseng, Corn Silk. Colon Supreme - Psyllium, Licorice, Cascarda Sagrada, Red Clover, Kelp.
A colonoscopy will only tell you that you are full of shit, and of course the doctor will make you drink those horrible chemicals. A colonic does what a colon cleanse does, except they suck it out of you. Apparently it's not so bad after the first one. So if you find yourself snacking through the night or can't seem to lose weight, I think a colon cleanse is the place to start.

Advertisements

I can remember a time when reading a magazine was almost entertaining. Sure, you always saw an advertisement somewhere in the pages for a certain cigarette brand, or maybe several ads for whiskeys, but suddenly those ads became a bad standard. God forbid, a child may see a man gazing into the sunset while sitting on his horse. After all, he had a cigarette in his mouth and that photograph would cause all young children to notice nothing but the cigarette, and this in turn, would cause all young children to start smoking and eventually become unhealthy adults.
Those days are long gone, but those troubling ads have been replaced with something even more dangerous. It’s difficult to flip through any publication without seeing drug advertisements. We’ve become a population of people who may have become smokers or alcoholics, to the largest group of over-drugged people on this planet.
The United States ranks at about 4% of the world population, but....hold on to your drug pushing magazine....we consume nearly 70% of the world’s drugs. That, you say, should make us the healthiest group of individuals in the world.
WRONG AGAIN. Last I heard, the U.S. ranked near 49th position as far as life expectancy. How is that even possible? We have the technology. We have the educated doctors and nurses. We have the best drugs. We have the best hospitals and clinics and research teams that money can buy. How could this all be possible?
Think about it, and then realize that we, as only 4% of the world population, consume 70% of the drugs. I see a terrible pattern here that only makes those long-ago advertisements seem like a laughing matter.
It doesn’t take a biochemist or super scientist to understand that the problem just may lie in part to the massive quantities of drugs that we are being programmed to ‘ask our doctors about.’ Naturally, your doctor is all too happy to write that prescription for you....he’s making money. It doesn’t matter than you may not need that drug. Your doctor is supposed to be there to heal you and make you feel better. If it makes you feel better to leave his office with a brand new prescription to add to your growing drug collection already at home, he’ll write that prescription with a smile.
I grew up in those times when the dreadful advertisements were a hazard to my health, but I didn’t think, “O-o-o-o, the Marlboro Man....how cool. He smokes and I want to be just like him.” I thought, “Neat picture. Neat sunset. Neat horse. What a jerk. He smokes.” Apparently he was born before all those hazardous ads were pulled and he was lured in. Advertisements will do that to you. They lure you in to make you want to try whatever it is the company is trying to sell, then you run out and get the product and before you realize it, you’re a junkie.
The point I’m trying to make here, in a round about way, is that these pulled ads have been replaced with ads that are far worse and even more hazardous to your health and the health of every citizen of every country. It’s all in the form of higher profits for your doctors and the pharmaceutical companies.
I was just checking out the April 2007 issue of Reader’s Digest. Took a look at the cover, and I see there’s a writeup somewhere about Halle Berry, but the big story is “How Safe Is Your Food?” I’ll have to read that later.
I turn the front cover, and the next page to see the index for the featured articles and I see that “How Safe Is Your Food” can be found on page 120. Turning the page again, I find the index for Reader’s Digest Columns and there it is. Right there on the following three pages is GlaxoSmithKline’s ad for Avodart.
Avodart is used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH. In other words, an enlarged prostate in men. The ad goes along to say that men taking the drug should not donate blood for at least six months after taking the final dose of Avodart. The reason? The blood donation may end up in a female who may be pregnant. It seems that if a woman is carrying a male baby and she’s exposed to Avodart, the baby may be born with abnormal sex organs. It also says that women who are pregnant or may become pregnant shouldn’t handle Avodart. Sounds to me like this stuff is pretty dangerous.

Flu Shots

Well, the media is at it again, and I suppose it’s that time of year for them to show strong support for the pharmaceutical giants. My local newspaper, and I’m sure many others across the country are doing their best to put that ‘fear’ into citizens about the dangers of the upcoming flu season. I see a half-inch high, bold title that says, “The flu is serious, so get that flu shot.”
In the first paragraph they tell of the fears of the public health officials three years ago, when a vaccine shortage would ‘leave millions of Americans without protection’ during the flu season. They then go on to say that after the drug companies worked continuously to fill the shortage, they ran into another problem: They had plenty of the vaccine left over after the flu season because so many people didn’t bother to get the shots. I say, good for those people who didn’t bother to get the shots. I’m sure they’re healthier because of it.
It seems to me that after the big Viox lawsuit, the drug companies had to make up for the money that was lost. What better way to do that than come up with another outrageous ploy and scare to sell another useless medication in the form of a flu vaccine.
The article goes on to say that about 226,000 people in the United States must be hospitalized due to complications from the flu, and an average of 36,000 people die as the result of the flu. It doesn’t get into details of how many people died from complications in using Viox or other prescription medications. Another thing that isn’t mentioned is how many of these 226,000 hospitalizations or how many of these 36,000 deaths were people who took the advice of a physician or the news media, and actually went out and got the influenza vaccination. Studies are always biased in favor of the pharmaceutical companies in that regard.
The Pennsylvania Medical Society’s Institute for Good Medicine took a poll and found that less than half of the people polled plan to get a flu shot this season. First of all, I never believed in ‘Good Medicine,’ but once again, I say, good for these people! The Medical Society President, Peter S. Lund stated that influenza “is highly contagious and potentially life-threatening.” Personally, I think it’s “potentially life-threatening” to rely on a medical doctor for anything other than a very serious emergency, since they know very little about health.
There is also a list of individuals who, they say, are especially at risk. It reads: Those with a chronic medical condition such as heart disease, asthma, chronic pulmonary disease, weakened immune system or diabetes; children under 5; children ages 6 months to 18 years who are on long-term aspirin treatment; women who will be pregnant during the flu season; people over 50; residents of long-term care facilities and nursing homes; health care workers.
It seems that just about covers everyone who visits a medical doctor on a regular basis. After all, you would probably not be in that condition if you would just stay away from the medical model of treating a symptom instead of treating the cause. Most doctors know nothing about the cause and only treat symptoms. It’s what they were taught.
This list of individuals, I think, should be the very last people to receive a flu vaccine. You’re already health compromised, so why would you let a doctor talk you into taking ‘the shot’ which may, because of the contaminants in the vaccine, do you more harm than good?
Why would you, as a pregnant woman, subject the unborn fetus growing inside your body to the risk and toxins of a flu shot? Of course, your doctor will tell you that your baby won't be at harm, but think about it....anything you put into your body during pregnancy will eventually get into your baby's system. That’s just the way it works. You are the life-line to that little wonder inside. Why take the chance?
Why would you, as a person with an already weakened immune system, subject yourself to receive a flu shot that may weaken you even more?
According to current evidence in the October issue of Lancet Infectious Diseases, the elderly may receive “little or no benefit” from annual influenza vaccinations. In the last 27 years, flu vaccinations have increased from 15% to 65%, but recent mortality studies have NOT shown a decrease in influenza related mortality. In other words, they’re saying, ‘the influenza vaccination doesn’t work.’
CTV Canada, claims that the supply of vaccine that has already been sent out to clinics across Canada contain two viruses that don’t even match the bug that’s running through the country, so in turn, may do little to ward off the flu.
From the ABC News Medical Unit comes word of guidelines to set up mandated flu vaccination for every man, woman and child. Dr. Gregory Poland, director of the Vaccine Research Group at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. is responsible for this nightmare.

Diabetes

I got a call last week from the Canadian Diabetes Ass. (pun intended), who wanted to know if I could canvas in my area for donations on their behalf. I told them instead of donating my time or money, how about if I gave them information on what is said to be a cure for Diabetes? Yes, there has been a type of Diabetic Cure since 1998. It was discovered by Dr. Youngsoo Kim at the University of Calgary. Good luck trying to find any info at the University, as they are in complete denial, and I think in a lawsuit too, LOL.
This cure is for people who can't/won't make a necessary lifestyle change. It is called Eleotin and is available at www.eastwoodcompanies.com. Recent figures (July 2007) estimates approximately 80,000 Canadians are currently on this protocol. The first seven ingredients of the product make so much sense. Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Biotin, Magnesium, Zinc, Manganese, and Chromium. Most of us are already taking most of these supplements anyways. But like I say to people who don't want to take supplements, well you can start now and probably have to take them for the rest of your life. Or you can wait 10 years until you're diagnosed with a disease and are on medication, which you will be taking for the rest of your life, and it will probably end your life. This is called preventative medicine, it won't kill you.

There are two pressures that are measured when your doctor checks your blood pressure. The systolic pressure is the measurement of the force on the blood vessel walls when the heart is contracting. Diastolic pressure is the amount of pressure when the heart is in the relaxed state between beats. These are measured in millimeters of mercury or mmHg for short.
A Normal blood pressure, they say, is a systolic pressure of less than 120 and a diastolic pressure of less than 80.
Then you get into a condition called prehypertension, and yes they have numbers for that, too. A systolic pressure between 120-139 and/or a diastolic of 80-89.
Stage 1 hypertension is a systolic of 140-159 and/or a diastolic of 90-99.
Stage 2 hypertension is a systolic of 160-179 and/or a diastolic of 100-109.
Stage 3, or severe hypertension is considered a systolic pressure greater than or equal to 180 and/or a diastolic greater than or equal to 110.
Take note of the “and/or” in those claims. You go to your doctor for a checkup, and if you’re like most people you may have a case of “white coat syndrome” where just being in a doctor’s office makes your blood pressure rise. The tension of having an appointment at 11:30 in the morning and arriving at the office at 11:00 - just in case he or she may be running on time, is a stress. But now it’s 12:48 and you’ve missed lunch and if you’re anything like me, getting a little cranky by now.
The nurse finally calls you back to a room where you sit for another twenty-eight minutes until the doctor strolls in with your chart. The tension rises again because you just know he’s going to find something wrong with you. And sure enough, your blood pressure reading is 142/80. Even though your diastolic pressure is what they would call borderline prehypertensive, your systolic pressure is now in the stage 1 hypertension range. You’ve reached that “and/or” stage.
Most doctors today will immediately take out the old prescription pad and send you off to the drug store with paper in hand, and most people will politely go along with this foolishness. After all, Doctor knows best.
Blood pressure changes constantly throughout the day with the stresses and tensions of your everyday life. One blood pressure reading of 142/80 does not make you a candidate for a chemical drug that may cause you more harm than your 142/80 pressure. You certainly DO NOT have a Vasotec or Lotensin deficiency, as these are man made drugs and don’t belong in your body in the first place.
A better place to start in controlling you blood pressure would be a change of lifestyle. If you drink coffee, tea, soda or any other caffeinated beverages - stop them, or at least make a drastic cutback. Caffeine can raise your blood pressure dramatically. Also you should cut your intake of table salt. Regular table salt is good for no one.
Hawthorn berry is a natural vasodilator, meaning it can relax the veins enough to lower the resistance to blood flow. Parsley leaf can improve blood flow. Garlic has been used to deal with high cholesterol, but has been proven to reduce high blood pressure. Capsicum pepper can be purchased in capsules and is great for the heart and circulatory system. Capsicum is loaded with calcium, magnesium and potassium and in today’s world most people are lacking in theses nutrients. If you don’t want to go the pepper route, you can find a good calcium, magnesium, potassium supplement.
A thing to know about supplements though - cheap is not always better. Sure you can go to your local Wal-Mart or grocery store and buy a 100 count bottle of some supplement for very little money, but most of the cheap well know supplements aren’t very well processed by the human body. Do some research on the companies before you buy.
And yes, Emily, the fishtank and yoga are great ways to reduce blood pressure. Slow-deep-even breathing, meditation, even petting your dog or cat can do wonders to reduce stress. Drinking plenty of water can also reduce blood pressure to a degree.
